eCrag
Delete Your Account
Effective 20 October 2026
You can have your eCrag account and its data deleted at any time. This page explains how to ask, what gets erased, what stays, and how long it takes.
How to request deletion
Send an email to info@e-crag.com from the address your account is registered to, with the subject Account deletion request.
Include the nickname on the account so we can identify it. If you write from a different address, we will ask you to confirm ownership before doing anything — otherwise anyone could delete someone else's account.
You do not need the application installed to make this request, and you do not need to be signed in.
What is deleted
Everything tied to your account, permanently:
- your account itself — email address, password hash and nickname;
- your profile — name, country, Instagram handle and profile photo;
- your climbing logbook — every logged climb, with its date, attempts, style and grade;
- your activities, trips and projects;
- your profile photo and every photograph attached to your activities, trips and projects, both the database records and the image files;
- your feed publications;
- your likes and your comments, including those left on other people's publications;
- your follows, in both directions, and the follower counts of the people involved;
- your favourites;
- your settings;
- your notifications, and the phones registered to receive them;
- the link between eCrag and your Apple ID, if you signed in with Apple — we ask Apple to remove it;
- your authentication tokens, which signs you out on every device.
What remains, and why
Crags, sectors, routes, spots and topos are not deleted. Neither are the photos of crags and walls you added to them.
This information describes the rock rather than you. It is held in a shared database that every climber using the Service relies on, and it carries no link to your account — removing it would take down route descriptions, grades and topos that other people depend on, without meaningfully reducing the data held about you.
We may also retain, for as long as the law requires:
- records we need to comply with a legal obligation, or to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim;
- technical logs, which are discarded on their ordinary schedule.
How long it takes
We action requests promptly and complete deletion within 30 days. Data may persist a little longer in backups, which are overwritten on rotation within the same period.
We will confirm by email when it is done.
Before you ask
Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Your logbook, your photographs and your climbing history cannot be restored afterwards, and creating a new account later does not bring them back.
If you would like a copy of your data first, ask for it in the same email and we will send it before deleting anything.
